Friendship Peak Trek is quite popular among trekkers across the globe. It is located in the Kullu district and the Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas, India. The Friendship Peak Trek is situated at a height of 17,348 feet and is usually completed in 7 days. 

The trek is not considered a beginner-friendly trek as it is quite a challenging trek, suitable for fit individuals with good physical and mental endurance and prior trekking experience. The total trek distance is around 34 kilometres on both sides. The Friendship Peak Trek starts in the Solang Valley at a height of 8,400 feet.

The best time to do the Friendship Peak trek ranges from May to June and then from September to October. During these months, the trek trails become more stable and predictable as the snow starts to melt down, giving a hassle-free and amazing experience to the trekkers.

The summer temperature of the Friendship Peak Trek ranges from 10°C to 18°C, and in winter it goes as low as -10°C. The climbers should be well prepared for the unpredictable weather changes. 

Dhundi is the last village in the Solang Valley where the Beas River meets its first tributary between the Beas Kund and Rohtang Pass. Himalayan lifestyle.   • Return to your campsite in Solang Valley.

  • After having breakfast, embark on this 2-3 km-long trek, with a 2.5–3 hour duration and an elevation of 7,900 feet.
  • Trek through the Patalsu trekking route, adjusting to a high altitude.
  • Enjoy the mesmerising views while viewing the beautiful Beas River as a breathtaking backdrop.
  • The Beas River marks the start of the route. As you climb half a kilometre, witness some amazing plants like bamboo, Juniper, Mountain Hemlock, and the Bara Bhangal mountains.

  • After reaching Dhundi, start a 3-kilometre trek, situated at a height of around 12,800 feet and lasting 3–4 hours, which tests your physical endurance.
  • Start with a steep climb over the Bhoj Patar ridge, reaching the highest point of the day, a small gully where you cross on the other side of the ridge.
  • The Lady Leg Trek is often steep and rocky, with a view of birch, oak, and pine trees adding a picturesque touch to the trek.
  • The trek offers a clear view of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges and ancient glaciers.

  • After having breakfast, start the midnight trek to Friendship Peak, as it is the longest day of the trek, situated at a height of 17,348 feet.
  • The team will cover a distance of approximately 5 km in a duration of 8–9 hours.
  • The trail from Lady Leg to Friendship Peak Summit follows an icy, steep, and rocky trail up to around 1.5–2 km. 
  • Take a breather in between trekking and soak in the exquisite views of the serene landscape, gazing at the golden tint passing through the gigantic Himalayan Peak.
  • After an 8–9-hour strenuous climb with numerous crevasses and steep slopes, some narrow paths, and rocky, icy patches, reach the Friendship Peak Summit.
  • Begin your trek down to Lady Leg, following a mixed terrain of rocky and green meadows, with snowy rocky patches depending on the weather.
  • Be cautious while stepping onto the trail, as it needs proper footing as you follow 6-7 hours of trekking.
  • By the evening, the team will reach the Lady Leg campsite and stay overnight at the campsite.
  • Post breakfast, begin the downward trek to Dhundi from the basecamp, which is comparatively easier compared to other trails we have followed so far in the journey.

Who can do the Friendship Peak Trek (eligibility)?

Age:

  • The minimum age limit for the Triund Trek is 15.
  • Children below 18 years must be accompanied by their guardians or parents.
  • The maximum age limit is 55. It is advisable to consult a doctor if you’re over 55.
